Organisations are increasingly aware of the importance of human capital. Even so, in many organisations interest – and competence – in recruitment matters is restricted to the HR department.

This presents a problem, because the people best positioned to identify and exploit the opportunities presented by a recruitment process are line managers.

While there is broad agreement that social media are becoming increasingly important professionally, the recruitment sector continues to work on identifying the opportunities and challenges associated with the phenomenon in the recruitment context.

While it is not difficult to find trade articles about the many opportunities offered by social media, we wanted to learn more about the potential dangers.

In a previous article about job interviews, we discussed the purpose of the job interview in our modern, media-driven world and concluded that planning and preparation, as well as structure and competence, were extremely important for conducting a good job interview.

Taking that as a starting point, we have produced a general job interview checklist.
